Gwyneth Hughes qui a récemment adapté Vanity Fair a annoncé qu'elle proposerait une nouvelle adaptation du roman Tom Jones écrit par Henry Fielding. Il n'y a pas beaucoup d'infos pour le moment et aucun casting annoncé. Néanmoinsns certains sites l'annonçaient pour 2020. J'ai aussi lu qu'elle travaillait avec les créateurs de War & Peace et Victora pour ce projet.

Citation :: ITV looks set to adapt the classic 18th century novel Tom Jones with an update for the #MeToo generation.

The book, which was famously made into the Oscar-winning 1963 movie with Albert Finney, follows the adventures of foundling Tom and was scandalous at the time it was released.
The Henry Fielding novel – which actually comprises 18 smaller books – is set to be adapted this time around by Gwyneth Hughes (The Girl, Vanity Fair), according to the Radio Times.

"I hadn't read the book before, and I think I'd inherited a vague idea that it's a slightly unpleasant bawdy romp with a lecherous hero and a wimpy girlfriend," she explained.
"How wrong can you be? It turns out that Tom Jones is a great romance, and a rollicking adventure story, full of twists and turns and surprises."
Arguing its relevance to today, Hughes added: "These days we are all hyper alert to issues of consent and sex equality. But Henry Fielding was there before us.

Solly McLeod, Sophie Wilde to Star in Gwyneth Hughes Adaptation

MASTERPIECE, ITV and Mammoth Screen (Victoria, Poldark) are partnering on a four-part television miniseries to reimagine The History of Tom Jones, A Foundling based on Henry Fielding’s classic novel. A picaresque story of the title character’s complicated journey to find real love, Tom Jones has delighted and scandalized readers since it was originally published in 1749.

Solly McLeod (The Rising) stars as the hero Tom, alongside Sophie Wilde (You Don’t Know Me) as the heroine Sophia Western.

Written by Gwyneth Hughes (Vanity Fair, Miss Austen Regrets), Tom Jones is directed by Georgia Parris (Mari) and produced by Benjamin Greenacre.

The Executive Producers are James Gandhi, Gwyneth Hughes, Damien Timmer and Helen Ziegler for Mammoth Screen, Susanne Simpson and Rebecca Eaton for MASTERPIECE, and Polly Hill for ITV.
